North Northumberland Bird Club

Meet:              Second Friday of the month
Time:              7.30 pm – 9.30 pm
Calendar:       September – June (no meetings in July or August)
The monthly meetings invite members to listen to a wide variety of speakers on a range of topics involving birds and birding.
Meetings are free to members; visitors pay a small fee.  Members receive a monthly newsletter.  The club also runs monthly field trips for bird watching and a yearly residential trip, either home or abroad.

Bamburgh Castle Cricket Club

Meet:               Various Sunday afternoons throughout the Cricket season
Time:               2.00 pm onwards
Season:           May through to September
The long tradition of cricket on the Castle Green in Bamburgh is an established summer pursuit in one of the country’s most beautiful settings.  Over recent years successful applications for grants allied to local fundraising have brought about investment in equipment to produce an excellent outfield as well as three new wickets on a very good square. What nicer way to spend a summer’s Sunday afternoon?

Bamburgh Croquet Club

Meet:              Club sessions, Tuesday, Friday and Sunday
Time:              2.00 pm onwards
Season:           April through to October
There can hardly be a better place to enjoy this intriguing game than on the Green under the beautiful setting of Bamburgh Castle.  Bamburgh Croquet Club is one of the North-East’s largest clubs and has two full-size lawns available for open play seven days a week in addition to club sessions.
Members can join in club sessions on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.  You can play socially or there are competitive opportunities against other clubs.  All equipment is provided.

Bamburgh Castle Carpet Bowls Club

Meet:               Monday
Time:               2.00 pm – 4:00 pm
Calendar:       September through to March
Indoor bowls games are suitable for all ages and abilities. no previous experience required.  The games are played on a mat approximately 30ft x 6ft.
The club is a member of the North Northumberland Carpet Bowls League and plays matches against other teams in the local area on various evenings on a home and away basis throughout the season.  Other friendly matches are played with other clubs in the region during the season.

Bamburgh Scottish Country Dancing Classes

Meet:               Wednesday
Time:               2.00 pm – 4:00 pm
Calendar:       September through to April
The class is designed to teach the basic steps to undertake Scottish country dancing.  This has the added benefit of being a fun way to keep fit.
The class has been running for over twenty years.  New members are always welcome.  Come and give it a try.

Table Tennis Club

Meet:               Tuesday
Time:               10.00 am – 12:00 pm
Calendar:       all year
The table tennis club has approximately twenty regular members of mixed ability.  There is no subscription to the club. but attendees pay a small fee per session.
All are welcome from experienced players to newcomers to the sport.  It is excellent exercise and a very sociable event, with coffee and cakes available.

Bamburgh Pavilion Tennis Court

Calendar:       all year
The tennis court is located at the north end of the Green, adjacent to the play area and pavilion.  It has recently been re-laid with an all-weather surface and is in excellent condition.  The tennis court is available to Bamburgh residents and visitors for use during daylight hours throughout the year, weather permitting.
The court can be booked at the Victoria Hotel, telephone number 01668 214531.  The key can be collected from the reception desk of the hotel.  The cost of hire and required deposit will be provided by the receptionist.
When you have finished playing, please tidy up, lock the court and return the key to the Victoria Hotel.


Women’s Institute, Bamburgh

Meet:              Second Wednesday in the month except August
Time:              6.30 pm April to October, 2.00 pm November to March
Calendar:       all year
The Women’s Institute offer a selection of activities during our monthly meetings including demonstrations and speakers – certainly not jam making!  In the winter, the talk is followed by a delicious afternoon tea whereas in the summer it is a little more sophisticated with wine and nibbles.
Every August we hold a sandcastle competition on Bamburgh beach.  Outings are organized twice a year to National Trust properties or beauty spots and there is a monthly lunch club where members meet at a local restaurant.
We give a warm welcome to visitors and new members.
